Michael Owen to Manchester United??? WTF!

Sports - October 07, 2007

The news that is all over the place today is that Michael Owen is due to have a medical at Manchester United on a free signing. Just the comment that he is “having a medical” made me laugh, but the concept of him playing for United does NOT make me laugh. Any Liverpool supporter of any sort of genuine truth from within would definitely not say they are pleased about this and that “ha ha you have an injury-prone has-been!” No way! We are all thinking, “what a traitor! How could you do this to us? What if he succeeds there? What if his goals give them their 19th title instead of us? What if he scores against us for UNITED of all teams?” I’m fearful for all of the above.

Do I think Owen is at the same class he once was? Definitely not. But this is Manchester United, and knowing that they are controlled by Satan, it concerns me that they’ll end up winning again because of this. (Satan… Red Devils… couldn’t resist). I really doubt most people think he can replace Tevez or Ronaldo, but since he is on a free and because Machester United have enough money to fill a bank Uncle Scrooge style from Duck Tales, with a sea of coins you can swim through, there is really no risk in this, even with astronomical wages. And as far as Owen is concerned, if this works out for him, then it is his best chance to regain a place in the World Cup side because he’ll partner Rooney.

The obvious concern from my end about all of this is that he wouldn’t be taking his past with Liverpool seriously enough… like it was just a business venture. That would piss me off. What about loyalty? What about passion? What about the supporters who pour out their livelihood… are they chopped liver? Or even worse, are they not worth caring about, regardless if he likes us or not? UGH.

I’m hoping he doesn’t sign for them, but news reports make it seem pretty certain that if he passes his medical, that he’ll be a United player for the 2009-2010 season. THE HORROR! THE HORROR!!!
