West Brom want another Liverpool player to go with Rickie Lambert

The Daily Star have suggested that West Bromwich Albion are preparing to make a surprise move for Liverpool defender Jose Enrique – who appears to be surplus to requirements at Anfield after falling down the pecking order.

According to the Star, Tony Pulis is ready to hand the Spaniard the chance to revive his career in the Midlands, after two frustrating years on Merseyside which have been littered with various injuries.

This summer, he was banished to the reserves alongside Fabio Borini and Mario Balotelli (via The Guardian), leaving Liverpool fans in no doubt at all as to where our former favourite’s future lies.

The Star states that Enrique’s lucrative contract could prevent them from making a permanent move for the left-back, who is behind both Alberto Moreno and Joe Gomez in the Liverpool squad, but suggest that a loan deal could well come off for them.

West Brom currently have Sebastien Pocognoli in their ranks, as well as Joleon Lescott – who played at left-back at times last season – but Enrique would likely represent an improvement on both of those options.
