Klopp reveals Liverpool’s plans for ‘unbelievable’ Sturridge

Daniel Sturridge, seemingly from the brink of an inevitable exit, has revitalised his Liverpool career in one game.

Jurgen Klopp gave the forward his first Premier League start since January last weekend and the striker repaid his manager with a wonderful opening goal and a devastating all-round performance.

Sturridge showed pace, finishing and all the things that make him one of the country’s best forwards, when healthy.

Of course, Liverpool have failed miserably to get the Englishman in prime condition for any considerable length of time, and it’s something that frustrates his manager greatly.

Klopp though thinks Sturridge can stay with us next season.

“A fit Sturridge is an unbelievable player,” Klopp told the Times. “That’s a pity of the situation, not often enough but he’s now fit, spot on, trained two or three weeks.”

Asked if Sturridge had a future at Liverpool, Klopp replied: “Of course.”

Unless he picks up a late injury (not impossible…), you can be sure Sturridge will start on Sunday against Middlesbrough, with a win guaranteeing us Champions League qualification.
