Aberdeen midfielder describes Liverpool starlet as ‘the best he’s played with’

Liverpool goalkeeper Danny Ward has already made a huge impression during his loan spell in Scotland, with Aberdeen midfielder Willo Flood lavishing praise on his new teammate.

Flood, best known in this country for his spell with Manchester City – where he played until 2006, described Ward as the best goalkeeper he’s ever played with.

The 30-year-old, who has also played with the likes of David James and Kasper Schmeichel during his career, has been full of praise for Ward after his performances at the start of the season – which have included appearances in four pre-season friendlies, six Europa League qualifiers and the first match of the new SPL season.

Aberdeen have lost just one of those eleven games and Flood feels much of their success is down to the 22-year-old Liverpool starlet.

He said: “For me, he’s the best I’ve played with. When I was at Manchester City there was David James and Nicky Weaver, who were top goalkeepers.

“But Wardy, for his age, his stature, everything about him. He’s up there with the best. He has all the makings of a Premier League player in England. We’re just happy we have him for the season.

“He’s very confident but you’d expect that because he’s come from a top club. You don’t sign four-year deals with Liverpool if you’re a shy lad.”

Ward has never featured for the Liverpool first-team in a competitive fixture, despite having joined us from Wrexham back in 2012, although he was an unused substitute for us on multiple occasions last season – following the injury to Brad Jones.
