Liverpool face French outfit Bordeaux in the Europa League on Thursday, knowing that an Anfield win will make qualification all but mathematically confirmed.
And in good news for Jurgen Klopp, Bordeaux are experiencing an injury crisis, just as the German welcomes some of his better players back, reports the Echo.
The French have defenders Nicolas Pallois, Pablo, midfielder Gregory Sertic, and striker Thomas Toure all out injured, while Tunisia international Wahbi Khazri – arguably their best player – is suspended due to a card picked up in their last outing against Swiss outfit FC Sion.
Liverpool currently sit 2nd in Group B behind Sion, but will win the group if they beat Bordeaux and get three points in Switzerland. We’re easily the best side in this group and anything other than topping it would be below par.
Klopp has a fit again Daniel Sturridge and a rested Christian Benteke to call upon on Thursday, with both strikers sitting on the bench for the Premier League victory against Manchester City at the weekend. Lucas Leiva is expected to start as he’s unavailable next weekend due to suspension, but Joe Allen could still enter the fray in one of the midfield positions.
