The Reds could be set for a defensive boost against the Blades on Sunday.
While Liverpool wait nervously on news as to whether Jordan Henderson will require surgery that would rule him out for the remainder of the 2020-21 season, there is at least some good news on the injury front.
According to The Times’ Paul Joyce, that good news is Fabinho, with the club’s stand-in centre half—and likely first name on the teamsheet at the position when he returns—targeting a return against Sheffield United.
With the Reds not playing the Blades until Sunday, it would appear to give the Brazilian a solid chance of doing just that, and if he’s fit he would likely start alongside Ozan Kabak at the back for Jürgen Klopp’s side.
Having made the bench against Everton on the weekend, Naby Keïta is also fully fit now and could be in contention against a Sheffield side that have only earned 11 points and are all but mathematically relegated.
However, the news doesn’t look quite as positive for Diogo Jota, as while the forward has begun to take part in team training activities this week, Sunday’s match will likely come too soon for him to play a part.
