A look back at the key moments in Liverpool’s entertaining defeat to Brighton in Premier League action.

Brighton 3 - 2 Liverpool

Seagulls: Ayari 32’, Mitoma 69’, Hinshelwood 85’
Reds: Elliott 9’, Szoboslai 45+1’

Pre-Match

Virgil van Dijk gets a surprise no start today, which will be his first minute not starting in the league (plus probably 90 more). Chiesa also gets a start today, which is nice for him.

First Half

Liverpool open the scoring early after Salah plays Conor Bradley in with a fantastic first touch. Bradley then drove to the byline and cut it back for Elliott, who turned it home. Great team goal from the much-changed side.

Bradley nearly makes it two after being played in by Chiesa, but his shot whistles just wide of the post. Despite the changed lineup, Liverpool are looking pretty good and composed.

Brighton peg Liverpool back with a well-worked goal from a clipped pass over the top.

And with the last kick of the half Dom Szoboszlai pulls a strike out of the absolute top bin to put The Reds back top. This is fun. We’re having fun.

Second Half

Brighton start the second half with a bit of a flurry, including one effort that has Alisson at full stretch to deny a shot that was destined for the far post. And then Mo misses a sitter on the other end, so you know, funny game and that.

And now it was Liverpool’s turn to have a shot saved on one end, only for Brighton to score off a rebound on the other. 2-2.

Brighton take the lead with a well-worked goal, and now lead.

Final Thoughts

Fun and meaningless match. Too bad Salah didn’t bag a goal or an assist. And losing, that’s also a bummer, I guess.
